Rep. Joe Wilson

Last night, as The President was addressing a joint session of congress, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) yelled out; "you lie". A stunned silence fell on the assembled law-makers, family, and friends. Never before had such a rude event occurred when a president was addressing congress. Not George W. Bush who was lying about WMD. Not when he was lying about his wars. Democrats and others may have thought it, but they never said it. Wilson called the White House to apologize. Fair enough, but I remind you of the Dixie Chicks and how they were vilified for criticizing President Bush in front of a foreign audience. Three entertainers were harshley criticized for their lack of respect. Now comes a little known member of congress who astonishes everyone with his outburst. He owes the congress and apology. He also owes the country an apology. Then, hopefully, he can resume whatever he was doing before being elected to congress.
